What to wear to your first Latin night

The short version: smooth soles, light layers, and stop thinking about it.

Shoes

This is the only decision that actually affects your night. A smooth sole lets you pivot; a rubber sole grips the floor and fights every turn, which is how people tweak knees. Leather-bottomed dress shoes work. Low-profile sneakers with a worn sole work. Running shoes do not.

Everything else

Dress like you are going out. Rooms get warm and you will sweat, so layers you can shed beat one heavy thing. Bring a small towel if you run hot — plenty of regulars do, and nobody blinks.

What not to worry about

Nobody is dressed to be judged. The most confident dancer in the room is frequently in a plain t-shirt.
